5.0 out of 5 stars Finally The Real Deal! Microsoft Official Black Chat Pad Is Here!, September 27, 2010

I've been looking out for this item for a few months now, and shockingly I found it here on Amazon. I couldn't find it online anywhere or in stores. I refused to buy the White Chat Pad kit thats been out here on online stores, and on the shelves in retail stores. I wasn't sure if this was really the original black Chat Pad at first, and was thinking twice about purchasing it. I just took my chances, and I'm glad I did. This matches great with my new Xbox 360 25O GB Hard Drive Console. Looks great, matches, easy to use, keypad lights up for use when playing with the lights off, and most importantly relieves me of the time it takes to reply to messages from friends, and posting messages on my facebook. Great product, highly recommend it. This isn't the knock off "White" playback Chat Pad that they custom paint Black that you find on e Bay that people are selling for like $50.00. I Got my product on time and for a great price, with free shipping, I was satisfied. Can't say anything bad... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Definite Improvement over the previous Controller(s) from Datel., October 8, 2010

Recommended additional accessory: We strongly recommend also picking up the, Grip-iT Analog Stick Covers by Total Control, available on amazon for about $5. You can find them here: Grip-iT Analog Stick Covers ' Xbox 360/PS3. The reason being is because of the dome shape of the Analog Sticks can cause you to lose your grip. These little silicone covers work wonders at correcting this issue, and you get two sets for $5. They are also universal so if you have the PS3 version of this controller, they'll work just as well. They are also Made in America, always a good thing.

UPDATE: #12: November 2011. While I no longer have this controller I have found out that Datel updated the Customizer software to version 1.6 in November 2011. I don't know if they added any NEW Features or any new games to the Combos but apparently this... Read more

I've tried many third party controllers and I keep coming back to the original Microsoft controller. Why? Because they're all lacking in quality in some way.

Out of all the third party controllers, the Turbo Fire 2 is probably the best due to the Control Customizer software but that's not saying much. It's like being the tallest dwarf.

The D-Pad on this controller is absolute garbage and the analog sticks are incapable of giving you precision movement in first person shooters like Call of Duty Black Ops or Modern Warfare. Even adjusting the stick speed through the software can't make up for the fact that there is a significant dead spot. The movement of the stick either results in very slow increments of movement or very fast and wide movements. There's no in between and there's no precision. I tried the special "sniper mode" and adjusted the sensitivity of the sticks through the software and I still can't get the precision of the original XBox 360... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Windows 7 64 bit cannot update Turbo Fire 2 via certain USB ports, October 5, 2010

I've tested two Windows 7 64 bit machines and "No Datel TurboFire Device Detected" is displayed on the TurboFire 2 Customizer program. Program will not recognize controller and so you cannot update the controller firmware or assign features to the two function buttons. On a Windows XP 32 bit machine I had no trouble connecting the controller and I was able to update the firmware immediately. However, there was not a way to assign macro functions or custom configurations via the Customizer software. I've contacted Datel and so far no response. I will update once I hear back.

UPDATE: John (another Turbo Fire 2 owner) informed me that he had no problems installing. So, I went back and double checked everything. What I discovered that not every USB port works with the Turbo Fire 2. So, if you have any problems... re-install the program as Administrator. Then run the program as Administrator. Then check every single USB port you have and see if the program recognizes the... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Not good for FPS's, May 25, 2010
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Afterglow AX.1 Controller for Xbox 360 - Blue "New for 2010" (Accessory)
Well I got this controller because my batteries kept dieing while playing MW2 and this controller looked cool.
The feel was OK, looks were nice but there are some major issues. The joystick clicking is a lot harder and the bumpers are a bit awkward, neither of which had a huge impact on my decision to return it.

The main problem I had with this controller is the joystick sensitivity. And not the kind you can fix by changing the sensitivity in your game. The problem is when you try to move just a little to the left when your aiming down the site about to blast some poor guys head off... you move the joystick just a little and your sites don't move at all, WTF. So you move the joystick a little farther and it jumps to the other side of the guys head and now your back where you started but on the opposite side.

If you don't play FPS's. And the games you do play don't require you to move ever so slightly in any direction then this controller just might... Read more

The afterglow controller looks cool and has a cheaper price point but you end up paying for it. The buttons are great and the feel is too but the joysticks are terrible. The sensitivity is messed up and does not allow for precision, and no you can't fix it by adjusting your settings on the xbox. Save yourself the anger and spend the extra 10 bucks on an original.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice, solidly built controller, August 15, 2010

I think the Afterglow controllers are the best third-party controllers I've used. They are very rugged and can take a beating. They may even be better than Microsoft controllers (Afterglow's bumper buttons won't break if the controller falls off the coffee table...) No complaints about the sensitivity of the thumbsticks, but I tend to play a bit more aggressive. The dead zone seems right for me and the responsiveness is consistent across the entire range of movement. Some thumb sticks seem to have a ramp up in sensitivity where little movements suddenly become large ones which is frustrating in FPS and racing games. The FPS games I've been playing have an aim-assist so I can't speak to the sensitivity in hardcore, multiplayer FPS gaming. I've found switching the glow effect to active with rumble works best. It's not constantly lighting up the room and the flickering helps reinforce the fact the controller is trying to tell you to find safety.
